Ireland Bicycle Tours
The Medieval Southeast
We explore the beautiful southeast corner of Ireland,
an area rich in medieval heritage, stunning scenery, and beautiful coastline.
We begin our cycling along the coast, taking a ferry across Passage East,
and visiting the Gaelic speaking village of Ring. We follow the River
Blackwater to the town of Lismore, where we have a free day to relax
and visit the many historic sites in the area. Then we pedal north over
the stunning Knockmealdown Mountains into the county of Tipperary and
the Glen of Aherlow, an important pass which was a hideout for the
“Raparee,” Irish outlaws who were dispossessed of their lands.
We continue on past the Rock of Cashel. Bristling with ancient fortifications,
it is one of the most spectacular archeological sites in Ireland. Our
tour begins in Wexford and ends in the historic city of Kilkenny.
Level of difficulty: Moderate to difficult.
What's included: Use of bicycle, accommodations, experienced guide,
support van, and breakfasts.
